Randy Lanham

Randy is the Educational Director and outreach coordinator at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Founder and Executive Director of Volunteer Owensboro, and director and host of the nationwide Project Volunteer TV series.

​Randy won the Kentucky State Fiddle Championship at age 19, and then moved to Nashville at age 20. Blessed to be able to play in bands with Clay Walker, Wade Hayes, Tracy Lawrence, and Tanya Tucker. He has been on some of the biggest country music tours in the USA, including George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, and more.

1984 - Started to learn the fiddle
1985 - Played fiddle in my first band The Bluegrass Youngins
​1987 - Played in the Bluegrass Band Jim Simpson and the Kentucky Mountain Grass
1990 - Won the Kentucky State Fiddle Championship and my band Kentucky Autumn won the Bluegrass Band Championship. 
1991 - Played fiddle on tour with Marty Brown. CMT videos and the Grand Ole Opry. We did short tours with Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill. 
1994 - Played fiddle with Clay Walker. Played on the Grand Old Opry, CMT, Music City Tonight, TNN, The Tonight Show, and toured with George Strait. 
1995 - Played fiddle with Wade Hayes. Played on the Grand Old Opry, Austin City Limits, TNN, CNN, Music City Tonight, Crook and Chase. Toured with Faith Hill, Brooks and Dunn, and Alan Jackson.
2002 - Played fiddle and mandolin for Tracy Lawrence. Played on the Grand Ole Opry. Played shows with many artist.
2003 - Played with the Honkey Tonk Tailgate Tour with Wade Hayes, Darel Singletary, and Rhett Atkins.

2003 - Started teaching for the International Bluegrass Music Museum, Bluegrass in the Schools and Group Lessons.
2004 - Created the Lanham Brothers Jamboree with brother Barry Lanham. 

2005 - Played fiddle and guitar with Tanya Tucker.
​2007 - Lanham Brothers Jamboree Produced for KET TV broadcast around Kentucky
2011 - Founded Volunteer Owensboro.
​2018 - Won the Kentucky Music Educators Association Friend of Music Award.

​2020 - Produced Project Volunteer TV Series Nationwide.
2022 - Became a Kentucky Colonel.
2023 - Set a world record for the Biggest Bluegrass Band in the World with 510 people playing together at the John Lanham Jam Day.
​​2025 - Played at The White House for Christmas Open House.
2025 - Was awarded "The Big O Difference Maker" by Cromwell Media and WBIO.
​2026 - Awarded the "Top 20 to Watch in 2026" by Owensboro Living Magazine.



OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

 - Mayor's Good Citizen Award
 - Project Volunteer TV Silver Telly Award for Director and Co-Host
