HIGH HOPES MUSIC
Picture
I’ve been playing music for over 40 years, starting at the age of 11 when I began learning the fiddle from my granddad. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of performing across the US and Canada, touring with some of the biggest names in Country Music and appearing on major TV networks.

For the past 22 years, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching bluegrass, country, and gospel music. Through private, group, and online lessons, I’ve helped thousands of students develop their musical skills. As the Education Director at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, I’ve also led the “Bluegrass in the Schools” program, where I teach in classrooms, perform in school-wide assemblies, run group lessons, and offer private lessons.

In addition to my work with schools, I collaborate with the Owensboro and Daviess County school systems, focusing on students with special needs, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, and those facing challenges. I also lead outreach programs, including songwriting workshops with veterans and recovery centers, as well as organizing 10 bands to perform for residents in nursing homes, patients in hospitals, and hospice care.
I’m incredibly passionate about the programs I’ve built and would love the opportunity to bring them to your school, business, organization, or event. If you’re interested in learning how to run these programs yourself, I’m more than happy to guide you.

If any of these programs interest you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. They’re perfect for team-building, fostering connection, creating community, inspiring others, or just having fun.

Experience Bluegrass Music
Learn to play fiddle, guitar, or mandolin with expert guidance! For over 20 years, I’ve been teaching introductory lessons through the Bluegrass In The Schools program at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to improve, you can learn to play a simple tune or a few chords and be performing a song in as little as one hour. This can be for a school, organization, business, or a private event.

My band "The Possum Pickers" are for hire, playing bluegrass, classic country, and gospel music.

Music for Special Needs
I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages—special needs and at-risk youth, as well as adults—to create meaningful music experiences. Whether it's learning an instrument, songwriting, or participating in a drum circle, we focus on making music accessible and enjoyable. Music doesn’t have to be complicated to be fun. We introduce it in a simple, engaging way to help uncover each person’s unique interests and talents.

Nursing Home Music – Learn How to Bring Joy
Thousands of nursing home residents would love for you to stop by and share some music, or better yet, lead a sing-along. Simple, familiar songs can brighten their day—and it’s easier than you might think. At the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, we’ve created a helpful video to guide you, along with a collection of songs, recordings, and charts to make leading these sessions simple and enjoyable.

Songwriting Therapy – Empowering Veterans and Those in Recovery through Music
There’s something truly magical about taking your personal story and turning it into a song. It’s not just a creative process—it’s a healing one. Writing and recording a song gives you the confidence to share your story, and we've witnessed countless individuals share their experiences with family and friends for the first time through the power of music.

Expressing what’s on your mind and putting it into words and melody is a transformative experience. In our songwriting sessions, the storyteller is an active participant, shaping the song’s melody, chord progressions, tempo, and overall feel. The magic happens when they see the song come together, and then recording it allows them to watch it evolve from start to finish. This gives them the opportunity to share their creation with family, friends, and others who may connect with their experience.

Ukulele Open Tuning – The Easiest Way to Play Music
One of the best things about the ukulele is how simple it is to play. By retuning just one string, you can strum all the strings open (without pressing them down) to play a chord. This simple trick also makes the other two main chords much easier to learn, and with just three chords, you can play countless songs!

The nylon strings make it gentle on the fingers, and it’s versatile—you can play it right-handed, left-handed, or even on your lap. The ukulele is one of the most straightforward instruments to pick up, allowing almost anyone to start playing songs within minutes.

Team Building Fun

Discover a variety of fun activities designed to bring your group together! Learn a simple song on an instrument, write and record your own song, try out a square dance, and so much more. With a wide range of activities, your team will have a blast while building connections, improving teamwork, and sharing plenty of laughs. Everything can be tailored to suit your group’s unique needs, ensuring a memorable and impactful experience for all.

Key Note Speaker – Storytelling, Music, Interaction, and Fun!
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to experience a life full of ups and downs that have shaped who I am today. From growing up in a small town in Kentucky to moving to Nashville at just 20, to facing the challenges of being diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, each chapter of my story has played a role in molding me into the person I am now. Through it all, one thing remains clear: God created me to help, teach, and inspire others to do the same.

If I can overcome life’s challenges, so can anyone—and I’d love the opportunity to share my journey with your group. A unique blend of inspiration, music, and interactive fun will make you feel like you're truly part of the experience.

Music Miracles Blog
Explore inspiring stories from my experiences in the field, where I share my journey of teaching and creating music with veterans, individuals in recovery, those with EBD and special needs, at-risk youth, as well as through group lessons, performances for nursing homes, and more.

Music Vibes – Music for the Hearing Impaired
Speakers create vibrations that allow us to feel music in a unique way. For those who haven’t experienced hearing music, being able to feel it is truly special. The speaker chair makes this possible. By sitting in the chair, a person can feel the vibrations from the bottom and back, with the option to add a sensation to their chest, allowing them to experience the music all around them.

The incredible part is that by learning just three simple chords, individuals can not only play music but also feel the difference between each chord, as each one has its own distinct vibration.
